Meet the Team

Mark Skolnick
Mark Skolnick has been in the mortgage industry since 1991.  Originally from Boston and a graduate of UMASS/Amherst, he is licensed as a Broker by the California Bureau of Real Estate (CalBRE #01126077). Mark began Investment Property Capital in 1999 with the notion that the name of the company should tell the story…Investment Property Capital is focused on providing capital solutions for real estate Investors.

In 1993 Mark founded and continues to coordinate Real Estate Roundtable of San Francisco (, a real estate think tank and professional networking organization. Mark has been an industry leader in designing innovative mortgage products for commercial real estate finance, and fractional loan products for the Tenancy In Common market. Over the span of his career he has arranged financing for most types of real estate. Mark is a member of Bay area Mortgage Association (BAMA), Asian American Hospitality Association (AAHOA),  and the Marin Association of Realtors (MAR).

Deborah Chan
A San Francisco Bay Area native, Deborah graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Legal Studies and minor in Accounting. Following graduation, she worked at a Big 6 accounting firm in its Tax Division. Deborah developed her interest in real estate from growing up in a family of international real estate professionals and investors. Deborah’s parents have been investing in apartments and mixed-use buildings in San Francisco since the 80s.

Deborah started investing in real estate in 2002. As an active real estate investor and licensed Broker, she thoroughly understands the competitive marketplace and the importance of the right financing solution as an essential ingredient to her client’s deal structure and success.

Deborah has been arranging real estate loans for all types of properties for her clients since 2001. Throughout her career as a mortgage professional she has consistently been a top producer.

In addition to her business pursuits, she took graduate courses in Psychology at Golden Gate University and CSPP (PhD program). Deborah’s love for community led her to various philanthropy projects and non-profit organizations over 18 years, including raising funds for The Little Jim Club of California Pacific Medical Center (the oldest non-profit in San Francisco) and Women In (commercial) Real Estate (WIRE), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising scholarship funds for women to attend the UC Berkeley MBA Coursework in Real Estate.

James Zimmerman
First licensed in 1974, Jim is a Broker Associate at IPC and he brings many years of corporate business experience and a highly consultative approach to assisting his clients obtain financing for their real estate projects.

Thoughout his vast corporate and private business career, Jim has helped thousands of clients reach their goals. Jim is a graduate of Susquehanna University, ios an Eagle Scout, and has also been licesed in the securities and insurance industries.
